Just swimming that far is impressive. I am not a great swimmer, but I can’t imagine swimming that many laps. Everytime I start swimming my lats blow up and seem to get tired quickly.
Shane’s Over 35 Shenanigans
Idk why they seem easy to me. Must be all that KB pressing I did all year but pressing on a machine feels really easy. Give it a go, you might surprise yourself. Yeah, the steam room is nice. Good way to relax for a bit.
One Brick at a Time
Week 5, 15-10-2026: Upper B Seated DB Press - 4, 3 x 32 kg, 5, 4 x 28 kg. Messed up by going for the 32s for on my second set, but first set felt strong. Will attempt 34s next week if shoulders feel good, but keep the back off sets solid. High Incline DB Press - 3 x 8 x 26 kg - Shoulder was a bit sore after failing with the 32s, so focused on controlled solid reps. Wide Grip Pulldown - 4 x 6-8 @ ~75 kg. Made no significant progress on vertical pulls in a month, might need to reconsider programming DB Flyes SS Rear Delt Flyes

Semi-new Lifter Figuring out how to Make a program
Pick your progression rule before you pick exercises. That’s the part most home-made programs are missing. Something like: when you hit the top of your rep range on a main lift, add 5 lbs next week and work back up. Keep main lifts in the 5-8 range, accessories in the 8-12 range, and don’t add more sets or exercises until the weights stop moving. As a wrestler in the offseason, 1-2 hard conditioning days keeps the gas tank full without wrecking recovery. Also track every workout. Inconsistent l

I think most people associate “classic” poses with the front double bicep, side chest and vacuums much more than most muscular, even if it’s still a component of classic bodybuilding.

Really? I know nothing about bodybuilding, total strongman/powerlifting focus from the get go, so I’m sure you are right. Still, that surprises me. I remember old photos of Arnold and Franco doing that pose a lot, and I figured they were sort of the “baseline” for classic
Maces, Clubs, Sledgehammers
In his Black Book, Thibs talks about doing general physical preparedness to make the shoulders and rotator cuffs flexible and reduce injuries for bigger bench presses. Thibs advocates doing exercises with dumbbells, maces or weighted clubs - essentially doing up to eight sets, with each set two minutes and compromises of four exercises for thirty seconds in succession. Backward big circles, front raise to shoulder, alternate raise above head and little circles in front with the arms extended i

Thanks Shane. I’m not sure if it’s the weight lifting or what but the first 20 minutes is really tough. Then my shoulders loosen up and it just feels effortless after that… I’m not pushing the envelope or anything though. My time is probably considered “decent.” Definitely not “good.”

The 1-Rep Muscle Building Journal
Thursday Lunges holding weights- Up to 61.5# ea hand x 2-sets of 8 I can log these because I don’t consider these a movement that needs to be highly scrutinized for focusing on the target muscles. IMO these are of the approach to get the reps and weight and just make sure my knee touches or is an inch above the ground. Holding the weights in hands this targets the traps too and is a glute builder and lung burner!
