    First performance on my performer

Picked this up used for about $300. I’ve searched for a while and couldn’t pass this one up. I’ve been using webers for about 20 years. No more ash flying around and using ripped pieces of the charcoal bag. Propane assist is pretty sweet. Tried out some new charcoal- fuego. Seems ok, will report back after more uses. 5.5hr cook at 250°. Pork belly burnt ends submitted by /u/atmiata [link] [comments]

    How to frog your turkey

I've started frogging my turkeys instead of spatchcocking and I'm liking the method alot. Way faster cook times, more even cooking, easier than spatchcocking because you just need to cut through some weak rib cage bones rather than down the spine. The oysters stay intact as well. Main disadvantage is it takes up way more space, but I do 2x smaller 10lb turkeys instead of 1 big one so not a huge deal for me. I'd definitely be concerned doing a 20+lb turkey like this in a regular oven though. #turkey #thanksgiving

    Fiberglass gasket

I noticed that the fiberglass gasket connecting the auger tube has exposed fiberglass strands I’ve tried to find the part through Z grills, but I can’t find it. Is there any simple fix I can do ? possibly putting some high temp silicone on the fiberglass or how do I go about this I patted the fiberglass down, but before that it looked all fuzzy. submitted by /u/Koblac_white [link] [comments]

No wrap, no sauce baby backs

Smoked baby back ribs from Sam's Club while watching the 49'ers vs Seahawks game today. I removed the membrane and seasoned with SPG and Honey Chipotle rub. Used the SmokeBoost (180 degrees) setting on my Searwood 600 for 2 hours to get some good smoke flavor and then switched to 250 for the remainder of the cook and spritzed with 50/50 water and apple cider vinegar every 30 minutes.

    Smoking pork at 275

I tried it for the first time today and my family was elated. They often share memes regarding when dinner is going to be ready off the smoker. We all know what they are, four hours later than you tell them Not today, though. Gentlemen and ladies, not today. I loaded up the pit boss and got a 9 pound pork shoulder, bone in, at 8:45 AM. Set it at 275 and literally didn’t touch it again. My Wi-Fi alarm went off at about 5:30 and I was it 200° at its deepest part.

    Second smoke, first rib

I had this on, no wrap method, for about 7 hours….it still wasn’t “fall of the bone” but everything I read said I should have taken it off earlier even though I feel like it could have been on longer….was still amazing though! Any reason why it took so long? I had two other ribs on the bottom rack that I did wrap for about 2 hours and took off around 6 hour mark, they were great but also prob could have been on longer… submitted by /u/porkque [link] [comments]

  • Height of bottom damper door

I’m doing some measurements for a fan adapter to fit in the lower damper opening. It needs to be the same height as the sliding damper door. On my 2014 Classic I, the channel the damper door slides in is 82mm. I need to know if that’s true for all the current Classic I, II and III models, and whether it’s the same for the various iterations of the Big Joe. I know the Junior door height is smaller, and would like to know that height as well. Thanks in advance for any assistance. submitted by /u/Beginning_Wrap_8732 [link] [comments]

  • Rain cover or no rain cover?

I noticed a lot of polarizing comments on whether you should protect your Joe from rain or not. So I thought I’d run a poll- do you use a cover or not? I’d like to separate out those of you who have their Joe’s in a shelter, this is more about those who have to make a choice to use a cover or not. In the comments, if you don’t use a cover, tell me how long you’ve had your Joe and where your climate is. View Poll submitted by /u/Tempest_Fugit [link] [comments]

Found in Japan: J-code red Weber One-Touch with original box, paperwork and white-letter wheels

Thought some fellow Weber enthusiasts might appreciate this find. Recently picked up this red Weber One-Touch with a J date code. It came with the original box, instructions, hardware, and white-letter wheels. The kettle had never been assembled before I received it. After all these years, it's amazing to see one survive in this condition. Greetings from Japan! submitted by /u/mutamuta1985 [link] [comments]

  • Temperature sensor fault on Woodridge Pro

I’ve had 2 Tri-Tips on my woodridge pro for about 1.5 hours now, the app just gave me a temperature sensor error and is in an automatic shut down mode. I thought it was referencing the meat thermometer probe, but it’s actually the internal smoker temp sensor, the meat probe reads fine. I’m locked out of doing anything until it shuts down. This is the 3rd time I’ve used this smoker, bought it new about 3 weeks ago. I did vacuum out the inside before beginning this cook. Does anyone have suggestions for how to proceed at this point in the cook.
