  • Buy A Weber Smoky Mountain or Add Smoker Attachment to Kettle?

Hi all and thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking to get more consistent smoking ability, and I'm wondering if it's it would be wise to purchase a smoker attachment for my current 22in Weber kettle premium, or if a 22in Weber Smoky Mountain would be significantly superior? I figure if I buy an Onlyfire 22in smoker attachment and a second grate for around $220, I can use a grate down low for an aluminum pan full of water, and another grate up high where I can lay the meat to get some distance from the flame and more usable surface area.

  • End of season deep cleaning and winter storage - Bradley P10 smoker

Hi everyone! I bought a Bradley P10 smoker this summer, and I'm now looking to give it a thorough cleaning before storing it for the Quebec winter. I'm a beginner at this! I've been looking for an end-of-season maintenance guide covering the precautions needed to prevent premature wear or damage during an extended period of storage. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything particularly detailed on Bradley's website, at least nothing that gives me much confidence about the proper steps to follow.

Found in Japan: Homer's Smokey Joe 10th Anniversary Limited Edition with original box

Thought some fellow Weber collectors might appreciate this find. Recently picked up a Homer's Smokey Joe 10th Anniversary Limited Edition. It came with the original box, paperwork, accessories, and what appears to be an unused cooking grate. Most examples I've seen over the years show plenty of use, so I was surprised to find one preserved in this condition. I've included a few photos of the box, the kettle, and the interior. How many of these are still out there? Greetings from Japan!

  • Asking for opinions on TempPro TempSpike Pro Smart WiFi Grill Thermometer

I have a JoeTisserie and obviously need a wireless thermometer while cooking. I have one of these (TempSpike), but my last cook was a simple rotisserie chicken that finished in about 1.5hrs. Once I had it off the kamado, the app on my phone was showing that the probe was close to being completely discharged. That was definitely concerning. Going back to the Amazon page where I made the purchase, I realized that my observation was also noticed by other purchasers.

    Chicken on the Ranch Grill

I had the opportunity to use my Ranch Grill this weekend. We had a big family get together and got the task making the Chicken and vegetables. The Ranch cooks amazing! Cooked up 14 chicken halfs in a little over 2 hours. I used some apple wood chunks for the smoke. I dry brined them for with some Trager rubs for about 3 hours and finished them off with some different Trager sauces. I grilled the vegetables on my Blackstone and they came out perfect. The apple smoke was very good but I am going to try some pecan wood chunks next time.

  • Smoked Wings advice

I've gotten pretty good at smoking wings the last few years to the point where they've been requested on a regular basis by family for any gathering. Hosting a thing this Friday and i've been asked to do wings, problem is that i'm really strapped for time this week. Normally I smoke them to temp, then flash fry to crisp them up, then sauce. I was thinking about smoking them Thursday night, pan them up and then put them in the fridge, then Friday do the rest. Is this a bad idea? submitted by /u/dawgcomplex [link] [comments]

  • Chuck Eye

Forgot to get pics during the cook but here are the result of a chuck eye. Picked up 2 for $15. Weber kettle was 450. Seared for 2 min each side then put them in the indirect cook and took them to 140. Let them rest with compound butter. I'm sold on them. BTW that was a variety plate with leftovers from the night before. I'm not good on presentation. submitted by /u/RemoteAd6401 [link] [comments]

Refurbished a spirit E310 I got for free

Picked this up on the side of the road all in around $82, thanks to prime day deals QuliMetal 9.5 mm stainless steel grates $52, no warmer grate QuliMetal $30. This thing was filthy scraped and degreased power washed took me about 4 hours. Burners were all in good shape crossbeam is corroded works but Weber is sending a warranty replacement. I ended up soaking the crossbeam in sodium bicarbonate and citric acid for a day and fins are not plugged and most corrosion is gone but some fins rusted out works good until I get a replacement.

  • Black Friday sales?

I’ve got a classic 1 and a Jr. The classic has been upgraded with Chefs Temp thermostat, fan, Kick Ash basket and ash pan. I’m looking for more cooking area and am leaning towards with Big Joe 3 - mainly to get the taller grill so that I get the 3rd tier cooking zone (and can get a rotisserie turkey a bit further away from the coals)… We cook on this roughly 5-6 times a month - so one of the other things I dig is the splitter for the charcoal, so I don’t have to burn as much charcoal (and create a zone).

Weber Summit Grill Center FB Marketplace score and advice sought

Scored this off marketplace for free from a well to do neighborhood. Overall great shape only issue I’ve noticed is the igniter on the broiler doesn’t work and a couple dents in the door panels. But for free I’m super happy. This is the LP model that i would like to convert to Natural Gas. Weber won’t help out in the conversion and i haven’t found the proper pieces i need to do the swap. Anyone have any recommendations? submitted by /u/Disastrous-Rise1498 [link] [comments]

    Found my white whale

Got everything in the picture from FB Marketplace for $50. Seller got it from the previous owner when they bought their house 11 years ago. I don’t know the story behind the “Ralph’s” logo but it’s definitely unique. She needs a good clean before her first cook but I’m so happy! She’ll be a companion to my 22” kettle (which I just fired up). This community introduced me to this beautiful work of art and I can’t wait to gradually restore and make it my own. Cheers y’all! submitted by /u/calliopethefrog [link] [comments]

  • Even Embers Portable like the Nomad Portable kind off

I was looking at the new Nomad portable grill and while I am sure it is miles better thank this Home Depot knockoff, they have a sale right now for $50. I could not resist. No airflow control and this is my burn in run. The grate is measuring around 600F right now so it gets searing hot! I also loaded it with charcoal so in reality when I try my first cook, I will just fill half the grate. We will see if it works. $50!!

  • Help

Hey friends. Just picked up a wood fire elite as my first smoker. I put her together and went to season and got “ER 13”. Following the website I took the Auger Box apart and double checked the wires. It’s wild. Everything starts normal, fans start running, etc. and then all of the sudden it tells me that it’s lost connection with the auger. Any advice? submitted by /u/Current-Bonus-6267 [link] [comments]

  • Gasket not sealing

So I received a Big Joe 1 as a gift, which means no sales receipt. Which means no warranty support. Anyway, once I put it together I found that the gasket back by the hinge doesn’t form a tight seal. I tried the dollar bill test and there’s little to no resistance by the gasket near the hinge. Still haven’t fired it up yet, and KJ still refuses to cover under warranty without a receipt. They did promise to send me a hinge tool and video, but I haven’t received either. Open for suggestions on what to do.

  • My first time making bacon

I cured the pork belly with a recipe from google. Salt, sugar, curing salt and pepper. I vacuum sealed it for about 10 days. I rinsed, dry and left it in the fridge for about 24 hours then smoked at 225 until temp reached 150. Cooled, sliced and fried. It was delicious but I feel it was missing something so I may get a smoking tube to add a little more flavor. But , I highly recommend makin some bacon.. submitted by /u/RingAcceptable1374 [link] [comments]

    Blackstone Rust Driving Me Insane

Purchased my 30” (two-burner) Culinary Omnivore about four months ago. It’s been a nightmare. It is making me feel like the dumbest guy on the planet. I don’t know why I can’t seem to figure it out - but no matter what I do, it rusts. At times, I’ve thought maybe I was using too much seasoning, wrong type of seasoning, or too little seasoning. But after four months of trial and error, I cannot for the life of me figure out what the issue is.
