Jon Peters - Woodworking Quick Tip
Wooden buttons allow the solid mahogany tabletop to expand and contract. This outdoor coffee table is built with basic woodworking tools and pocket-hole joinery, making it a good introduction to woodworking project. Tree Roots Under Brick Patio
Some repair is better than none. With a brick patio this close to mature trees, maintenance is always going to be part of the deal. In this video, I tackle the worst section, about a 5 x 7-foot area, by removing the bricks and laying them out in their original pattern so they’re easy to put back. I cut away the tree roots, rake out and level the sand and paver base, then reset the bricks. While I’m at it, I power wash the brick, sweep new sand into the joints, and get everything back in place. I may need to tackle another section around this time next year, but I think the five or six hours spent on this repair was time well spent. Keep Out the COLD / Cover AC Return - Save Money on Home Heating
Keeping the cold out This is a good weekend to button up the house before temperatures drop, especially with heating oil and energy costs so high. I’m using ½-inch plywood with thermal bubble wrap taped to it to help seal off the AC return vent. You can take it a step further by adding a piece of Rockwool Comfortboard insulation on top to help keep cold air from falling into the room. #DIY, #woodworking,#homeimprovement

Repair Your Garage Door Casing with a PVC Plinth
When I first posted this, I got a ton of comments about how the repair didn’t match. I was kind of surprised, so I had to explain this one. But that’s often how it goes. A plinth is a decorative design detail that’s been used at the bottom of door casings for centuries. One of the nice things about using a plinth is that your baseboard and shoe molding can dead-end into it because it’s wider than the casing itself. And in this case, I made it out of PVC, so it won’t rot again. #DIY, #woodworking,#homeimprovement

I Used AI to Transform the Outside of My Sauna
I built this Sauna, but I wanted to see what it would look like with a dressed up exterior design. I used AI to visualize some ideas before I get started. I’ve been using AI to help bring my design ideas to life. It saves time and makes it easier to show my wife what I have in mind before starting a project. #DIY, #woodworking,#homeimprovement

How to Build a Long Hive (Horizontal Beehive) | Plans Available
Long Hive Plans https://jonpeters.com/products/long-hive-plans In this step-by-step video, I’ll show you how to build a horizontal beehive that holds more than 30 frames. If you’re like me, you enjoy beekeeping, but your back doesn’t! Lifting heavy honey supers and working in awkward positions can make beekeeping a lot less enjoyable. This long hive is designed to sit at a comfortable working height, with a lid that opens from the back, making inspections and honey harvesting easier. The plans are designed to accommodate both medium and deep frames, so if you’ve been keeping your bees in a Langstroth hive, you can simply move your existing frames into the new hive. The result is a well-insulated hive at a comfortable working height that makes managing your bees a little easier. Plans are available here: [Insert link to plans] I hope you enjoy the video. If you build one of these hives, please share a photo on Instagram and tag me. I’d love to see how it turns out! Thanks for watching! EMTB - Bike Wash Stand and Bicycle Hanger
I Built this bike wash stand and Bike hanger a few years ago and I still use them. Two simple designs that work well. Nothing fancy, just the bare minimum to get the job done. The wash stand makes cleaning the eMTB easier, and the hanger gives me a place to get the bike up and out of the way. #emtb #electricmountainbike #electricmountainbiking #emtblife #ebike

How To Aerate your Lawn with a CORE AERATION
I’m happy to partner with Jonathan Green | Lawn care again this fall and September through early October is a great time to aerate and seed your lawn. An aerator will usually cost around $100 to rent for the day. What I like to do is run the aerator in one direction, spread Jonathan Green Black Beauty Ultra Grass Seed, and then run the aerator again in the opposite direction. This gives you good seed-to-soil contact and helps the seed germinate and grow. Once I’m finished with the aerator, I can return it. Some rental places offer half-day rentals, so if you have the time, that’s one way to save a little money. If I have enough daylight, I’ll spread my fertilizer and soil amendment the same day. If not, I’ll do it the following morning. I have a lot of clay in my soil, so Jonathan Green Love Your Soil is a product I like to use to help loosen compacted soil and promote root growth. A little work this time of year can make a big difference in your lawn next spring.
