2026 Fleet Week Submissions!
Had a blast taking these photos on a Canon 60D with EF 100-400 IS lens. My arms were exhausted at the end of the day! I am hoping to find a better vantage point next year. This year, I was by Fort Point area near the Warming Cup and felt like most of the shots missed out on the Bay Bridge backdrop! Hoping to have a monopod at Crissy Field next year but open to other suggestions!

Used RF 70-200 f/2.8
I picked up a used 70-200 from ebay and it has a 30 day return policy. I got it for a price I was happy with on a used lens. I received it today and I have tested everything and it all works. My only concern is the specs inside the lens. I want to make sure its not a major issue or an issue worth living with. Added images for reference. I will add images of my 24-105 L that I bought brand new in the 1st comment. submitted by /u/geoffdon [link] [comments]
(Rebel SL1) First real camera, I don't know what to do with my hands
Been wanting to actually get into photography for a while and am diving in. Been on a tight budget, so I was lucky to be gifted my dad's old camera and a Tamron lens. Learning to play with the settings, but editing has been a lot of fun too. Although I'm finding each setting or nuance can be it's own rabbit hole of learning. submitted by /u/Unamuzed-Toast [link] [comments]
Tamron LD 70-300mm
Hello everyone, I bought a new Tamron LD 70-300mm as my old one is becoming faulty and half the time throws err 001 and the new one has arrived today but somethings not right with it. The seller claimed the lens is an EF/EF-S mount lens but they look different at the bottom. Yet it’s the exact same model. I believe this guy has sent me a Nikon F mount version. Attached are my lenses side by side. The one with the metal ring around it and blue background is my current lens and the other one is my new one. Please help!
R50V vs M6ii vs m43 for EDC/street
I am a nature/landscape photographer who aspires to be a street/travel photographer. I have an R7 and RF lenses that cover a range of focal lengths. I am super happy with that set-up. I am looking to add a smaller camera for EDC and street photography. Here are 3 options that I hope to get some feedback on. They are similar in price range and physical size, and all lack an EVF (which is okay for me).
Free alternative to EOS Webcam Utility for a Canon Rebel T6 that lets me control camera settings from Windows?
I have a Canon Rebel T6 and want to use it as a webcam on Windows without paying for an EOS Webcam Utility subscription. Is there a free alternative that lets me control camera settings—such as exposure, focus, and frame rate—from the PC? pikpipipi I’ve tried installing EOS Webcam Utility, but I can’t get the camera working in OBS. I’m also considering an HDMI capture card. Can the T6 send a usable video feed over HDMI, and is there a way to remove the focus box and other on-screen overlays? submitted by /u/davss21 [link] [comments]
Lens Advice Please
I am simply an amateur photographer with no illusion that I will ever be pro. My main interests are shooting portraits for family and friends, some HS seniors, and landscapes while on motorcycle trips. I am looking to trade in my R50 with 2 kit lenses, and potentially my RF 24-105mm f4-7.1 lens that came with my R6 Mkii. Would you use the trade to obtain an RF 24-105 f4 or a 28-70mm f2.8 and an 85mm f2? Appreciate the advice. submitted by /u/Busy_Paint_5680 [link] [comments]
Camera issue Help!!
Hi everyone, I'm having a really strange issue with my Canon EOS 1500D, and I'd appreciate some help figuring out what might be wrong. While I was using the camera normally, it suddenly started malfunctioning. The LCD screen went dark, and none of the camera's buttons seemed to respond. The weirdest part is that the camera still takes photographs, and the images are being saved to the SD card without any problems. Here is everything I've noticed so far: The LCD behaves differently depending on the shooting mode.
Could you kind folks recommend a lens for milky way and landscape photography?
Current bodies: 90D, R5 Current lenses: EF 100-400L II, EF 135 F2 L, EF 85 F2 L, EF Macro 180 F3.5 L I mostly do astrophotography with a dedicated astrocamera and a few telescopes (300mm to 1400mm), but it's deep sky work on an equatorial tracking mount. I also do wildlife photography with the EF 100-400L II. I have the bug to start doing milky way landscapes and daytime landscapes. Particularly in the Southwestern United States like Big Bend, and areas in New Mexico and Arizona. I'm considering two options.
What prime lens to get for 35mm photos on an APS-C camera?
I’m looking to get an r100 as my first real camera and a good prime lens to go with it. I want to take 35mm photos because it’s a good middle ground, but getting a 35mm lens would result in photos closer to 50mm because the camera has a crop sensor right? So should I go with a 22mm or 24mm prime lens? submitted by /u/WailingBarnacle [link] [comments]
How do I get onto program mode? Canon SX410 IS
I’m not sure if the camera is bugged because I’ve just bought it off someone or if I haven’t read the manual correctly since I’m a beginner. But I cannot seem to get onto program mode on my Canon despite pressing the AUTO button as specified on the manual to allegedly bring me into ‘LIVE’ mode which just isn’t possible, it keeps on bringing me onto firework mode and nothing else? Should I return the camera? I can’t seem to be able to enter Program mode despite everything else and seem to be stuck in Firework/AUTO. Can someone help?
Help with Pros and Cons of R7 or R6mkii from R10
Hello, I realized my last post was pretty convoluted and wanted to clear things up a bit. My son has shown a strong interest in photography, mainly sports, wildlife and general outdoor photography that interests him. I love the thought of photography as something we can get out of the house and enjoy time together. Currently using the R10 with the following lenses: RF 35 1.8 RF 50 1.8 RF 100-400 5.6-8 Tamron 18-300 3.5-6.3 I want to enable his strong interest in photography as when I was a teenager I loved it.
Is the R100 actually bad and if so what makes it bad?
I recently won an R100 in a giveaway. I’m not a photographer by any means but I thought since I got a free camera it’d be nice to get into it. I’ve been trying to read up and I’ve seen many negative opinions on the R100. I just wanted to know if it really is a bad camera per se and what exactly is it that makes it so bad. submitted by /u/User018374 [link] [comments]
Any news about the canon Powershot v3?
I read some posts from last year about a potential Canon Powershot v3 being released, being a more photo oriented camera with more zoom and a viewfinder compared to the Canon Powershot V1. I like the look and size of the V1, but the lack of viewfinder is quite a dealbreaker for me and there doesn't seem to be a good alternative on the market with comparable internals (Sony RX100 comes to mind, but has a smaller sensor than the V1). submitted by /u/beanboys_inc [link] [comments]
Did I make the right choice with Canon R7?
Hiii! I just updated from 2000D to R7 and I am starting to see bad reviews about the camera and am stressing if I made the right choice. I do people and event photography mainly and for now I have the 18-150mm kit lens. Does anyone have any expirience with this camera, what lense should i buy to get better results that’s not insanelly expensive? submitted by /u/Laauraa_K [link] [comments]
Another of these R6 MK2 or R8 threads
Moin (German for hello), I need a new camera and want to switch away from Sony mainly for corporate political reasons, otherwise I would just get the A7s III as almost everyone recommends me that one. So. I'm a lighting designer and need the camera mainly to film my work. So, sitting in the back of the venue, pointed at the stage, fixed focus, low light conditions but quite some dynamic range and ofc movement. A second use will mainly be in zoos or on vacations, where I just want "better than iphone" pictures especially through enclosures.
Help with hot shoe incompatibility
Hey, I'm sorry in advance. If I get any terms wrong, I'm new to all of this I have a cannon EOS 2000D which I been using, I recently got a vivrat 283 flash from a thrift store, the only issue is the camera doesn't recognize it and my guess is because it's missing a pin that would connect them together, my question is if there's an adapter I could get to fix this (hopefully not at a high price) submitted by /u/MartinSkeleton [link] [comments]
