  • Looking for help identifying and valuing my dad’s custom rock crawler

Looking for help identifying and valuing my dad’s custom rock crawler This was my dad’s build, and I’m trying to figure out exactly what I have before I sell it. From the photos, I believe I’ve identified some of the major parts, but I’d really appreciate help from people who know these builds better than I do. I know it needs a wash too haha but other than that … **What I’m specifically trying to figure out:*\* - Whether the parts/components I’ve identified are correct - What major parts or modifications I may be missing

  • Starting a BJ40 build, what would you do first? Looking for suggestions from people who've done it

I'm starting a project on a Toyota BJ40, and I'm looking for advice before I spend money on the wrong things. The vehicle: Year: 1989 Engine: 3B diesel Condition: enging is fine denting and painting work needs Current mods: stock What I want it for: Weekend trails / overlanding and long trips / rock crawling / mostly a restored daily driver that can handle off-road My rough budget: slow n steady i will not do it fast beacause i want to things very clearfully What I'm thinking about so far:

  • Lifting the driver floor tray spills loose trail gravel over the sill

Tilting the stiff driver side floor tray to clear the pedals dumps half the loose creek gravel straight over the plastic door sill. The tall perimeter lip holds standing mud fine while driving, but trying to squeeze that rigid molded edge past the steering column creates a funnel that empties right into the door frame gap. A buddy running trails in the same area pointed out 3W as a possible replacement with slightly more flexible sidewalls.

  • 89 Cherokee XJ or 2nd-gen 4Runner (5.3 V8 swap)?

I’m looking at two 4x4s: 1989 Jeep Cherokee XJ: ~$4,500 USD 2nd-gen Toyota 4Runner with a 5.3L V8 swap: ~$7,500 USD Both would be weekend vehicles for some off-roading, not daily drivers. I’m also pretty new to cars and want to start learning how to work on them myself. is that a terrible idea for someone with little mechanical experience? Edit: i know the xj has some poorly modded things (Mismatched tires, missing flare and black paint overspray) but the car is well mantained, only one owner. and the interior is pristine.

  • Tyres for Pajero

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying some TT tires for my Pajero. It would have to be at least 33 and that it would not be necessary to remove the tabs or make cutouts. To what extent can I put it taking into account these aspects? Can I keep the original rims or should I buy others? They cannot rub against the fenders or the bodywork *It's slightly up submitted by /u/aguiar_carreira [link] [comments]

  • ATTN PA WHEELERS

I hope this is allowed, but if not please forgive the infraction and delete. I’m in SEPA, and I’ve been looking for a reliable, trustworthy, skilled, professional, and customer service oriented local shop to take my truck to for what seems like ages. I finally found one, and I wanted to share this information with anyone else who, like me, works on their own truck and wants to extend the life as much as possible, but who is also in need of a shop for the jobs that we can’t do on our own.

  • Which 2026 4x4 ute would you buy for long-term reliability? HiLux vs Ranger vs 79 Series

G’day everyone, I’m in the market for a brand-new 4x4 ute and have narrowed it down to four options: 2026 Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series – 2.8L turbo-diesel automatic 2026 Ford Ranger Wildtrak – 3.0L V6 turbo-diesel 2026 Toyota HiLux SR – 2.8L turbo-diesel 48V automatic 2026 Toyota HiLux SR5 – 2.8L turbo-diesel manual I’m based in Melbourne, and whichever vehicle I choose, I’ll be putting down a 50% deposit and financing the remaining 50%. What I’ll be using it for: Mainly a daily driver, approximately 25,000–30,000 km annually.

  • Dually Rims To Keep Solid Axle Swap Narrow For Trails?

New to the forum, sorry if this has been talked about already, but I’m considering building a general off-road trail / crawling / hunting rig. I was considering either a Chevy S10 or Ford Ranger, or maybe even a 2-door Cherokee. I was thinking I’d like to swap out axles and put 1-tons on it, both partially because I like the look and the performance. I’d probably have to start out with 35-37” tires until I can afford 40s.
