Who's responsible if the family dog bites someone?
I work night so i'm alone with our dog all day. I leave the door open for him because I live where people aren't going to randomly come to our house and they want me to let him out. My family keeps ordering amazon stuff to the house without telling me though and I keep telling them I don't want the risk of getting sued and I don't want him to bite someone either. So will I be responsible if i'm the only person home and that happens?
How Is Ghost Writing Considered Legal?
Celebrities write books all the time. But they don't actually write anything. They hire anonymous writers called "Ghost Writers" to write it for them, and they get all the credit. Technically it's legal because they have a contract which says you get all the credit and naming rights. But isn't that basically legalized plagiarism? Because you are taking credit for something you had nothing to do with?
The greeter at BJ’s store checks your receipt then makes a checkmark after comparing it to the items in your cart. If someone steals by hiding items and the greeter checks it off. They have you arrested or something after the fact or is BJs essentially consenting to the order and absolving you?
I was thinking about those people that steal from stores like Target a lot and eventually if asset protection has enough evidence of you stealing they can have you arrested and you can be convicted after the fact. But Target doesn’t generally have people checking receipts and checking them off before they say you can leave. BJs has the person confirm your transaction and sign off for you to leave.
What causes a long time between conviction and sentencing?
I just read a news story and it said the guy was convicted about 2 years before he was sentenced. It was a really serious case so it makes sense it took longer but also isn't that a really long time or is that normal? Also out of curiosity are there cases where a person was sentenced after a lot longer than that? submitted by /u/Green-Cheetah-7100 [link] [comments]
What happens if the recent changes in NFA enforcement revert?
A few days ago the ATF posted an open letter with a FAQ detailing changes to NFA enforcement after the recent court ruling. There's a good bit to it but TLDR, unless you have a local or state law prohibiting them, any legal firearm owner can now legally purchase or make suppressors and SBRs without registration or approval.
"This is not financial advice" is used on social media to give the façade of legal protection. How, then, to owners of private trading groups get away with it
There are numerous discord channels you can buy membership into where self-proclaimed analysts will make calls on which stock everyone should buy. The participants in the group usually pay to get in. Given this is therefore paid advice, how do the owners of these groups protect themselves from getting sued by someone in the group? How do they protect themselves from the fact that they are taking payments to solicit financial advice? submitted by /u/MasonNolanJr [link] [comments]
What do you call an accident/harm that is not negligence?
I was browsing reddit, and came across a post. Flight attendant's coffee pot was somehow held against a customers arm for a couple seconds causing some painful burnt skin. There was nothing wrong with the coffee pot. The coffee pot was sitting on it's base on the cart. The base nor the coffee pot was cracked or broken anyway. And the coffee pot was sitting correctly. Lets assume nothing the flight attendant did was out of the ordinary on the 1,000 flights they served. Is accidently burning someone negligence?
