Why did Charles V split up his empire? (Short Animated Documentary)

Emperor-King Charles V was the overlord and ruler of a lot of European territory as well as the growing Spanish Empire in the Americas, too. Most monarchs at this point just passed everything they owned to their heir but when Charles abdicated in 1556, he split his empire up. Giving his Austrian lands and the Holy Roman Empire to his brother, Ferdinand and giving his Spanish lands, souther Italy, the Netherlands and Milan to his son, Philip. So why did he do this? Why split his empire up and not just give it all to his son and heir? To find out watch this short and simple animated history documentary. Great Battles That Changed the World by TimeGhost

Join us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TimeGhostHistory Or join the TimeGhost Army directly at: https://timeghost.tv/signup/ After bringing you the most extensive coverage of World War Two ever created, TimeGhost is about to bring you Great Battles That Changed the World... and Some That Didn’t. I’m Spartacus Olsson. This is my next big project, and I want you to join me. Battles are fascinating in themselves, but great battles also act like burning glasses, focusing the problems humanity has faced into one fiery, dramatic moment. They reveal how we became who we are, what we might learn from those who came before us, and how we can become who we aspire to be. We will travel from the wars of antiquity through medieval Europe and imperial China, the Thirty Years’ War, the revolutionary and Napoleonic eras, the American Civil War, both World Wars, and beyond. But we won’t examine only what happened on the battlefield. We’ll explore the weapons and technology, military organization, personalities, politics, tactics, and strategy, and, crucially, how each battle changed the world, or failed to change it. Sometimes a battle forces history to choose between two paths, and that choice continues to shape our lives today. Sometimes it leads to progress. More often, it merely exchanges one road for another, with new trials and tragedies ahead. And some great battles change almost nothing. Yet they too can teach us about defense, resistance, courage, and the terrible futility of war. Starting in January 2027, I will bring you one new battle every week in long-format videos and Shorts on the TimeGhost channel, thoroughly researched and as academically accurate as possible, with seldom-covered details, maps, graphics, and everything necessary to bring the history alive. Meanwhile, I’ll also continue bringing you new World War Two content every week, and Indy will continue the Korean War. Producing all of this at the quality you expect takes a team, facilities, and

Were Hitler and Stalin Allies in 1939? #OOTF #shorts

Were Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union actually allies when they divided Poland in 1939? The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was formally a non-aggression agreement, not a conventional military alliance. But its secret protocol divided Eastern Europe into German and Soviet spheres of influence and provided for the partition of Poland. Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. The Soviet Union invaded from the east on September 17. Their armies fought separate campaigns, but their governments had already agreed on spheres of influence and subsequently formalized the partition of Poland. So whether historians call the relationship an alliance, partnership or collaboration, one thing isn’t disputed: Germany and the Soviet Union cooperated in dismantling the Polish state. But if both invaded Poland, why did Britain and France declare war on Germany—and not the Soviet Union?
