How does EVAS work?
Contact Vision Safe: https://visionsafe.com/utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=organic-social&utm_campaign=cjov Smoke in the Cockpit: Can You Still Fly If You Can't See? | EVAS Simulator Test On July 27, 2026, SWISS flight LX16, an Airbus A330 from Zurich to New York, reported smoke on board while flying off Nova Scotia. The crew diverted to Bangor, Maine, and got all 208 people safely on the ground. Professional crew work, full stop. That event raises a question every pilot has thought about: what happens when smoke becomes so thick that you can't see your instruments, your checklist, or the outside world? In this follow-up to my "10 Things You Need to Know About EVAS" video, we put it to the test in a Boeing 737 simulator. We flew the same smoke emergency twice, once without EVAS and once with it, and rated the workload with the Bedford Workload Rating Scale after each run. The result: ❌ Without EVAS: workload of 8–9. Almost no spare capacity, barely able to see the instruments, a perfect setup for mistakes. ✅ With EVAS: workload of 4. Clear view of the PFD, ND and windscreen, with spare capacity for ATC, gear, flaps and a normal approach. Same emergency, same training. The only difference was whether the crew could see. We also look at what NTSB and ATSB reports found about crews fighting smoke and lost visibility. And we explain why EVAS runs completely independently of aircraft power, which matters when your electrical system might be the source of the problem. ✈️ Want to become a pilot? EVAS Explained: The Hidden Cockpit Device Almost Nobody Knows About
Contact Vision Safe: https://www.visionsafe.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=organic-social&utm_campaign=cj10 10 Things You Need to Know About EVAS – The Device That Lets Pilots See Through Smoke Smoke in the cockpit: within seconds you can't see your instruments, your co-pilot, or even your own hands. In this video I break down EVAS, the Emergency Vision Assurance System by VisionSafe. It's one of the most underrated pieces of safety equipment in aviation, and most passengers (and plenty of pilots) have never heard of it. EVAS doesn't remove the smoke. It lets you see through it. A clear, inflatable unit creates a filtered clean-air pocket over your PFD, ND and windscreen, so you can keep flying, read your checklists and land the aircraft safely. In this video: What EVAS actually solves, and why lost visibility is so dangerous Where it's mounted and what's inside the container The deployment procedure: oxygen mask first, always Why the inflation is deliberately slow Built-in sleeves for checklists, charts and even iPads How the blower and filter keep it clear Battery life, ETOPS certification, and a bit of irony Why every aircraft type gets its own custom unit One pilot flies, one pilot deploys Why lithium batteries make EVAS more relevant than ever Next video: we go hands-on in the cockpit to show you what a real deployment looks like. ✈️ Want to become a pilot? FIRST FLIGHT of the Airbus A350F — The Future of Air Cargo?
The Airbus A350F has officially completed its maiden flight from Toulouse! ✈️ MSN 700 spent 4 hours and 10 minutes in the air, reaching 25,000 feet and marking the beginning of an extensive flight-test campaign. With a payload of up to 111 tonnes, a range of up to 8,700 km and fuel consumption claimed to be up to 40% lower than comparable freighters, the A350F is set to become a major new player in the long-haul cargo market. In this video, we take a closer look at the aircraft, its first flight and what makes the A350F different from existing freighters. ✈️ Want to become a pilot?
