    Hail-Back to Beans

Beans were finally dry enough to start, so we switched both combines from corn to soybeans. We’re starting with the two fields that got hailed. The insurance adjusters came out to look at them first, and the hailed beans have to come off before anything else because broken stems lose more every day they stand. Along the way: a cold start on our 2011 machine (and why we didn’t trade it), swapping the header from corn to beans, the last load of corn out of the yard, and a header that didn’t like sticky ground until the dealer pointed me at one adjuster nut. Onyx on the grain cart, Dad in the other combine, Danny in the truck. 150 acres done by evening. 0:00 Morning with Anna, Dig & Larry 0:41 Today’s plan: switching to soybeans 1:21 Why we kept the 2011 combine 1:59 Cold start 3:17 Firing up the dryer 4:04 Changing the combine from corn to beans 6:52 Change of plans 7:12 Patching the driveway 8:14 Last load of corn 8:51 Hail damage & the insurance adjusters 11:33 The convoy heads out 11:58 First soybeans of 2026 13:25 Checking for losses 14:00 Sticky ground & a header fix 16:24 Back in business 17:26 150 acres done #soybeanharvest #harvest2026 #millennialfarmer Millennial Farmer Merchandise ► https://farmfocused.com/millennial-farmer/ If you haven't joined FBN, membership is free and be sure to sign up and say you heard about it from me. ► https://www.fbn.com/millennialfarmer For more content check out our 2nd YouTube Channel @Between The Rows Watch this episode ad-free and uncensored on Pepperbox! ►https://www.pepperbox.tv/ Off The Husk With The Millennial Farmer Podcast Listen Here: ►https://www.mnmillennialfarmer.com/podcast Safely unplug your Grain Bin ►https://sumpsaver.com/ Yankum Ropes ►https://yankum.com/?afmc=1s PROMO CODE MFARMER Protection and Enhancement for All Your Hearing Needs https://goaxil.com/ZACHJOHNSON Get my Gatorz Sunglasses ►https://www.gatorz.com/millennialfarmer Book The Millennial Farmer to Speak at your Next Event: ►mnmille

    Agri-Pulse Newsmakers_October 9th, 2026_Full Episode

In this episode of Agri-Pulse Newsmakers, host Tammi Arender examines the fallout of the expired farm bill extension and investigates the steep financial burden placed on producers by high fuel prices during fall harvest. The broadcast focuses on how key commodity sectors are coping with legislative uncertainty. Sam Kieffer, CEO of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG), outlines how wheat producers are managing tightening credit, elevated input costs, and winter wheat planting without an updated farm safety net. Next, Michael Dykes, President and CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), discusses the expiration's operational impact on dairy processing, supply chains, and market stability. The program also tackles surging harvest energy costs, spotlighting a Louisiana row crop operation hit with a $291,000 diesel bill. Arender explores whether recent executive actions aimed at lowering pump prices can deliver meaningful relief to farmers. Wrapping up the episode, the “Map It Out” segment highlights states adopting emergency diesel relief measures, while “Ag By the Numbers” examines projected increases in direct government payments to cushion declining farm income.
