Hydronic heating system practical use feedback
I’m considering buying a MAN TGE-based campervan equipped with a hydronic heating system that also provides underfloor heating. Does anyone here have experience with this type of heating system in a campervan? I’m particularly interested in: Reliability: How well does it perform over time? Maintenance: What kind of servicing does it require, and how expensive is it to maintain? Potential issues: Are there any common problems, leaks, or costly repairs to watch out for?

Webasto Heater Service in CO
We’ve had our new build van for about 2.5 years and the webasto evo40 heater stopped working. The original builders are saying this isn’t covered by warranty and standard for 600 hours of run time. They quoted $1600 to fix it. ($600 parts, $1000 labor). We’ve had a lot of issues with their work so I feel like this is probably a rip off. Curious if anyone can confirm or knows of a good van maintenance shop on the front range in Colorado. submitted by /u/jdsuz [link] [comments]

Our budget would be about 15k. All help and advice is welcome submitted by /u/Past-Finance3339 [link] [comments]
The Best Sunglasses for Every Activity (Fall 2026)
October 2026 Update: After testing 29 new sunglasses and comparing them to the 51 tested earlier this year, we chose new winners in five categories. We named the ROKS SR-1x as Best Sunglasses for Running thanks to its secure fit and crystal-clear optics. The Smith Truss earned Most Versatile for its ability to excel from trail to town. Among the shades we continue to recommend, the Goodr OG’s are still the best value available.

Witches Are Taking Over America’s Waterways on Paddleboards This Halloween
What started in 2013 as an informal California birthday outing has expanded into a coast-to-coast Halloween tradition of revelers in witch and warlock costumes floating on harbors, rivers, and lakes across the country. From Sleepy Hollow to Seattle, here is where costumed flotillas are gathering this month, and why the movement keeps growing.
Sound insulation
Hi guys! I'm very new to this whole thing, I've recently decided to buy a van next year. The problem is, I'm a terribly light sleeper and very sensitive to noise in general....I have not looked into too many details but of course I'm definitely going to install extra sound insulation no matter what make I buy. However, my question is, strictly from the perspective of sound insulation, what should i go for: a cargo van or a passenger van with lots of windows?
Thinking of making a big change after my next trip
What do yall think of this. Swapping my current overlanding rig which is a 2023 Raptor R - kitted out to the moon and back for a 1985 Suburban. Here’s my thoughts on it. I paid a dash over 100k for the Raptor, it’s a couple years away from being paid off. It’s holding its value really well, should make a good chunk back if I sold it. I could get an old suburban for 20k-ish and restó-mod it specifically for overlanding for about another 30. Why does the suburban make sense for me.
One week to go on our 20 day overlanding roadtrip
1st Post We made it to Portland Maine today. Still taking tons of photos and we still need to create a shared folder but wanted to show you guys some more photos. Also still working on a trip journal that I will share when it’s ready. After Niagara Falls and Toronto, we headed across NY and into Vermont. Apologies for the erratic text and photos. We are busy and usually during our downtime we are just enjoying nature at camp. Happy to answer any questions. submitted by /u/Sheldons_spot [link] [comments]
Having custom mattresses made?
We're trying to find a van with a King bed, if possible. I know that several of them exist, I've got a list of them, but one thing that I've noticed about them is that several of the "king" options are couches that fold flat/convert to form the bed. We're old people. Sleeping on folded-out couches is torture. So I was wondering -- has anyone had their fold-out/convertible cushions remade with better bedding foam? If so, what was the experience like? submitted by /u/fn0000rd [link] [comments]
Looking for help identifying and valuing my dad’s custom rock crawler
Looking for help identifying and valuing my dad’s custom rock crawler This was my dad’s build, and I’m trying to figure out exactly what I have before I sell it. From the photos, I believe I’ve identified some of the major parts, but I’d really appreciate help from people who know these builds better than I do. I know it needs a wash too haha but other than that … **What I’m specifically trying to figure out:*\* - Whether the parts/components I’ve identified are correct - What major parts or modifications I may be missing
Bluetooth GPS device suggestions
I have a Dual XGPS150 and I’m ready to throw it in the trash. If it ever gets a signal, it takes over an hour and you can’t be moving. If you’re driving, forget it. It can take 3-4 hours. My setup is an iPad mini (no cellular) and OnX. Even using my phone, the GPS isn’t very accurate, so I don’t think a newer iPad with cellular is the answer. Most of my trips are in and around Vermont NF land, so it’s rare to have any cell service. anyone have something they like? submitted by /u/Eat_sleep_poop [link] [comments]
I've been tasked with weekend camp appetizers - what's your favorite?
Headed up on a weekend excursion with a group of 10-12 people and wondering what are your "camp friendly" appetizers? Fire ban has been lifted, so open campfire is available plus camp stove and Weber Q. I'm already planning on bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers and maybe some spinach artichoke dip. Any ideas? submitted by /u/benuntu [link] [comments]
How do i install another seat in a van?
I have a minivan that i have removed the middle row of seat and folded the rear from so it's completely flat, but i wonder how could i install an aftermaket seat inside facing the rear (since i am planning to install a TV in the rear) i want it to be the type of seat that would already come in a vehicle (not some random short chair or something ) so it's comfortable, but i really do not know how to attach one even if i find one, if someone knows how to i’d really like to know how it is done.
Advice/Opinions Needed
Hi Everyone, I am just sounding out my situation to get others opinions. I have a 2003 VW T5 with 188k miles on the clock. Good body condition (a little surface rust but nothing major). At the beginning of the year I had to get the front subframe replaced, brushes, suspension arms, brakes, pads replaced AND the gearbox reconditioned. I've now been told that the turbo could do with being replaced as it's going into limp mode when going up long hills (which there are lots nearby).

What do you reckon is the best way to keep a van from heating up while you're away from it?
Been fantasizing about getting a white stealth camper van for ages. But alas the ultimate form of freedom is too expensive for me. But part of the dream is being able to play my Retroid Pocket 6 handheld which can play pretty much every video game ever made anywhere. Problem is that a scorching hot van wouldnt be too good for the longevity of my mobile tech.
